A Colorado Springs mother and her grown son are doing well, despite having to jump out of a second-story window to escape an apartment fire.

The blaze broke out at a four-plex about 8:30 Tuesday evening.

Authorities say the building was completely engulfed in flames by the time the first crews arrived, forcing dozens of firefighters to battle the blaze from outside.

Some 60 firefighters responded to the scene after three dispatches.

No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation. Damage is estimated in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
