Westmoreland Coal Company has received 1-point-1 (m) million dollars from the U-S Army tied to a dispute over the first power project developed by the company's subsidiary. The money was for hot water produced by the Fort Drum Power Project and delivered to the Fort Drum Army Base in New York under a contract. Westmoreland says the payments came after the Army decided not to appeal a decision in April by an administrative hearing officer who ruled the Army improperly withheld the payments. Westmoreland Energy L-L-C sold its interest in the power project last year but retained rights to awards related to the contract dispute.
