Trail Ridge Road has officially closed for the season to through travel because of snow. It's the nation's highest continuous road. The 12-thousand-183 foot high road connects the Estes Park Valley on the east and the Kawuneeche Valley on the west. The road will remain open on the eastern and western edges of the park, weather permitting. The average winter closing date for the road has been October 23rd. Last year it closed October 18th. The central portion of the road normally opens again in late May.
