A new report shows the regional economy remained stable after improving in September. But it also indicates underlying concerns -- including the potential impact of a war with Iraq. The Mountain States Business Conditions index for October was released today. The monthly report covers Colorado, Utah and Wyoming and is compiled by Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. The regional index declined slightly to 54-point-8 from September's figure of 54-point-9. An index greater than 50 indicates an expectation of growth in the months ahead. Colorado's overall index dropped to 49-point-6 from September's 55-point-3. The report notes the state's unemployment rate has increased two-point-two percent -- a larger increase than the national rate.
