Work Related Deaths

A report by the state's Department of Public Health and Environment says 33 people died in highway crashes, down from the 34 the previous year; and 19 died in aircraft accidents, up from six in 2000.

The second-highest number of work-related deaths in 2001 came from assaults and violent acts in the workplace, the third was workers who came into contact with objects and equipment.

Men accounted for 128 of the 139 worker deaths. The construction industry had the highest number of deaths at 27.

There were 117 work-related deaths in Colorado in 2000.
