Filmmaker Michael Moore is known for tackling the big issues and even bigger controversies head-on. His documentary "Mike and Me" took on General Motors. Now, Moore is taking on gun violence in a new documentary with a Colorado connection.

It's called "Bowling for Columbine".

The documentary was Saturday night's feature at the Denver Film Festival.

While in Denver, he fielded questions about his film that takes a look at the Columbine High School massacre, and how America's obsession with guns played into it.

Moore was joined by directors, film critics, actors and the father of a Columbine shooting victim who all talked about violence in films.

Tom Mauser lost his son in the Columbine. He said he supports Moore's documentary. "I would like to see the filmmakers coming back to the question earlier here think about what is being portrayed. If you're gonna be a violent film, at least show the consequences of that."

Moore said, "This is a normal high school in a normal cafeteria with hundreds of normal kids, average everyday American kids and then you see two average every day, quote, normal kids, just taking their time walking through the cafeteria firing at will."

Moore said he thought up the name "Bowling for Columbine," because the killers went bowling the night before the school massacre.
