Some of the 16 new gliders that were stood down at the Air Force Academy after a crash this month are back in service.

The gliders were stood down for inspections after a crash Oct. 18 that destroyed a $48,000 glider.

Senior cadet Joshua Boudreaux parachuted safely to the ground.

Thirteen of the 16 gliders were allowed in the air again under an order.

Those gliders were of different models than the one that crashed.

The three remaining gliders will not be returned to service pending the outcome of an investigation into the cause of the crash.

An accident investigation board will be convened this week to determine who was at fault in the crash.
