Xcel Proposed Decrease in Natural Gas Prices

By: Associated Press

Xcel Energy says natural gas bills should drop for Colorado consumers in March. The company says residential customers should see a drop of about nine percent, while typical small-business customers should see a five-percent decline.

The company says the reductions stem from a one-percent drop in the commodity price of natural gas and from an expected drop in demand.

The company says typical residential customers should see their bills drop from close to 89 dollars this month to about 80-dollars-50-cents next month.

Typical bills for small-business customers should drop from about 381 dollars to 361 dollars.

Xcel Energy says it doesn't profit from the sale of natural gas as a commodity. The company passes all cost changes associated with the commodity price of natural gas to its customers.
