A bookkeeping mistake means more cash drawn out of the city of Colorado Springs's coffers.
The mistake the city will have to pay for is an early retirement program for firefighters hired after 1978.
The city's finance department first estimated the program wouldn't cost the city a dime. But now, it will have to pay at least $5 million over the next 30 years. That's $170,000 starting this year to cover the costs.
