Snow showers continue this evening creating slick road conditions across southern Colorado. Overnight the N Pikes Peak Region sees a second push of moisture and locally heavy snowfall will once again be possible. A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for far northern El Paso County where ~4" are possible by Tuesday morning. Also ahead, a High Wind Warning for much of southeast Colorado from 4-11am Tuesday morning as wind gusts could reach up to 60 mph. All four lanes of I-70 going through Glenwood Canyon are open more than a week ahead of schedule.
A Thanksgiving Day rockslide caused partial closure of that stretch of Interstate 70, causing $1.2 million in estimated damages.
Traffic was rerouted around the canyon for three days until crews opened a portion of the road.
Crews had to repair eight damaged sections of a bridge deck had to be before completely reopening the highway.
