President Bush Sworn-In

President Bush has officially begun his second term in office -- with a pledge to bring liberty and freedom "to the darkest corners of the world."

After taking the oath of office -- administered by an ailing Chief Justice William Rehnquist -- Bush delivered his second inaugural address to a huge crowd spilling away from the steps of the Capitol.

But much of his speech was addressed to people in other parts of the world. He told those who "live in tyranny and hoplelessness" that the U-S will not ignore their plight.

Bush said the advance of freedom and liberty are America's oldest ideals. And now, he says, they are an "urgent requirement of our nation's security."

The inaugural events continue with a parade along Pennsylvania Avenue, followed by a series of inaugural balls tonight.
