Police have pulled one body from the Arkansas River after a small plane belonging to a Colorado man crashed late Monday morning.
Little Rock police spokesman Sergeant Terry Hastings says two people were aboard the plane when it went down about 11:30 a.m. Mountain time. The plane was trying to land at Little Rock National Airport.
Fire department and sheriff's department boats are on the river looking for the plane. Hastings says some oil slicks have appeared on the water, but the river is flowing so fast that officials haven't found the wreckage.
Two Little Rock television stations report 70-year-old Herbert Kirby of Pueblo owned the plane.
They say Kirby departed Monday morning en route to Destin, Florida, and had to stop routinely to refuel.
