Gusty wind, low relative humidities, warm temperatures, and dry fuels will all combine to produce high fire danger this afternoon and early evening. It's snowing hard this weekend in the San Juan Mountains of southwestern Colorado and parts of the central mountains as well.
Up to three feet is expected by Wednesday.
Crested Butte resort has seen 15 inches of snow in the last two days, on top of 19 inches from storms earlier in the week.
And Vail has had three straight days of fresh powder, with a foot falling in the last two days.
But snowpacked, icy roads and winds gusting near 60 miles per hour at higher elevations is making driving difficult.
The Colorado Avalanche Information Center has issued an avalanche warning for the San Juan and La Plata mountains in southern Colorado. Center director Knox Williams says the warning could last for a few days.
