Stopping Smoking

Kicking the habit is getting a little bit easier, thanks to Colorado's Smoking Quitline.

It's a program paid for by money the state received in a multi-million dollar smoking lawsuit. In the past year, more than 9,000 Coloradans have used the Quitline to try to stop smoking. Another 2,800 used the online services. About 20% were successful, which is considered good when compared to other programs.

El Paso County got $500,000 of the tobacco settlement, money to help people stop smoking. The health department uses this money for tobacco education and prevention programs.
