Grimes' Sentence Reduced

A teenager who actually slit the throat of his best friend won't spend any more time behind bars than the leader of a cultlike group who ordered the boy and his grandparents killed.

Monday, Judge Kenneth Plotz took ten years off of the 60-year sentence he'd previously handed down to Isaac Grimes.

The judge said he made a mistake when he gave Grimes a longer sentence than ringleader Simon Sue, calling Grimes "the youngest defendant, the most contrite" and the first to confess and aid police.

Grimes was 15 when authorities say he nearly decapitated 15-year-old Tony Dutcher, then watched as 17-year-old Jonathan Matheny shot Carl and JoAnna Dutcher at their home near Guffey on New Year's Eve 2000.
