A 22-year-old survivor of the Columbine High School massacre will celebrate the new year, and her ongoing recovery, at the Rose Parade in California.
Kacey Ruegsegger was shot in her right shoulder during the 1999 attack at her school. The blast obliterated bone, tissue, tendons and muscle.
But she said she considers herself "blessed" to now be championing bone and tissue donations. She will be on a Rose Parade float filled with people who have received lifesaving bone, tissue and organ donations.
