Army officials say more than 180 Fort Carson soldiers are scheduled to begin deploying next week to the Middle East.
The members of the 360th Transportation Company are expected to leave Tuesday from Colorado Springs. It'll be the unit's second trip to the Middle East since the war in Iraq began.
The unit falls under the 68th Corps Support Battalion, which is part of the 43rd Area Support Group. Its primary responsibility is to provide bulk petroleum transportation support to other units.
Fort Carson sent 12,000 troops to Iraq last year in the Army post's largest deployment since World War II. Since then, the post has lost more than 40 soldiers, and more than 500 have been wounded.
