Brace yourself for some powerful winds over the next day or so. A strong and fast-moving cold front is arriving in Colorado. And it'll drop temperatures dramatically.

Wind gusts nearing 100 miles an hour tore off a portion of a high school gym in Louisville, and downed trees and power lines on Monday.

The National Weather Service canceled a high-wind warning at mid-afternoon after reporting gusts in Superior, Carter Lake, Louisville, Boulder and Golden.

Members of the basketball and wrestling teams at Monarch High School in Louisville escaped injury when a portion of the roof was torn off by winds. The school was closed for winter vacation.

Authorities briefly closed Colorado Highway 93 in north Jefferson County near the former Rocky Flats nuclear weapons plant due to high winds.
