A new study by The Brookings Institution says Colorado will need 1.3 million new homes and 1.7 million square feet of office space in the next 25 years.
The think tank says those figures would be enough just to keep up with expected population growth through 2030, from 4.3 million to 6.6 million.
The study ranks Colorado sixth in terms of housing demand and ninth for demand for commercial and institutional office space.
Colorado has 1.8 million homes right now, but the study estimates that 340,000 of them will be torn down in the next 30 years.
