A Fort Carson soldier accused of manslaughter in the death of an Iraqi civilian is objecting to a delay in his court martial.
Prosecutors have asked to delay the trial of Sergeant First Class Tracy Perkins because key witnesses are still in Iraq.
Perkins had been scheduled to go to trial Wednesday at Fort Hood, Texas, but prosecutors want a three-week delay.
Perkins' lawyer, Captain Josh Norris, said the delay violates his client's right to a speedy trial.
