Cut out the lunch meetings for state managers at the Brown Palace hotel and stop subsidizing the Snow Plow Rodeo. Those are just two of the suggestions from state employees to cut the fat out of the state budget and save jobs.
The suggestions were submitted to a hotline set up by the Colorado Federation of Public Employees -- which represents about 1,500 of the 47,000 state workers.
Governor Bill Owens had asked state workers for suggestions on ways to trim the fat because of the downturn in the economy -- which is lowered revenue below projections. Several suggestions were to the
effect that managers' use of state vehicles, cell phones and travel
budgets should be limited.
