Roads are icy in spots that saw accumulating snow yesterday. Allow yourself plenty of extra time this morning and dress warmly, as wind chills are in the single digits and teens for many. A second disturbance will bring another round of snow showers to the Front Range this afternoon and early evening. While not as heavy as yesterday, some additional light accumulations over the higher terrain will be possible, including Teller and Northern El Paso Counties. Highs in the 30s and 40s will feel colder when factoring a blustery northwest wind. Click on the 'Weather' tab for more...
The official student count is in for Colorado and the numbers seem to show consistent trends.
According to numbers compiled by the Gazette, Falcon School District 49 is still one of the state's fastest growing district, seeing a 16 percent increase in enrollment since last year.
Academy School District 20 grew almost 4 percent and Lewis-Palmer District 38 grew about 4.5 percent. Both are considered good growth rates.
Colorado Springs School District 11 is still the largest in southern Colorado. But D-11 continued to see a decline in enrollment, losing 488 students.
The figures are important because they determine how much funding the districts receive from the state.
