Denver airport officials expect about 145,000 passengers Wednesday, making it one of the busiest days ever.
The volume is usually heavy the day before Thanksgiving and the Sunday after the holiday. Airport officials say operations are relatively smooth -- with an average wait of ten minutes in security lines.
Spokesman Steve Snyder says all the security lanes at Denver International Airport are open. About 157,000 people are expected to travel through the airport Sunday.
So far this year -- DIA's traffic is up 15 percent from last year. The airport is on pace to log about 40 million passengers this year -- which would break the record of nearly 39 million in 2000.
