(Boulder-AP) -- More than 20,000 Colorado residents will receive phone calls beginning Thursday to verify that they want to be included on the state's official No Call List.
The residents are among those who registered with the Big Horn Center, a nonprofit advocacy group that lobbied for passage of the
No Call bill.
An automated system at Boulder-based e-InfoData.com will place the calls during the next week. If the called party wants to be included on the official list, the person will enter a home ZIP code.
The Colorado General Assembly passed legislation last year allowing consumers to protect themselves from many unwanted telemarketing calls by signing up for the official No Call list.
More than 707,000 telephone numbers are currently on that list.
