A system producing heavy snow in the central mountains arrives in SE Colorado overnight Sunday into Monday bringing moisture, windy conditions and colder temperatures. Snow showers will be possible across the I-25 corridor to start the day. This system will produce bands of snow through the day Monday. Areas under these bands will see periods of heavy snowfall which, with windy conditions, could create travel difficulties. A dangerous criminal is off the streets after shooting at police and leading them on a deadly car chase.
Two officers were injured in the gunfight and are recovering from their wounds. A total of 4 officers were injured: 2 were shot and 2 more were nearly run down by the suspect.
The good news... they'll be fine.
It all started when 3 men tried to cash a fake check at a Best Buy electronics store. Employees called the police when the 3 men tried to use the check.
The men rushed out the back of the sotre where a gunfight broke out with police. Two were hit as one of the suspects stole a security truck and led authorities on a high speed chase. It ended when officers rammed the suspect who died in a final shoot-out.
Police are still looking for the other two men who they believe were involved and are asking for any information to help track them down. If you have any information on the other suspects, call Crime Stoppers.
