A recent poll shows President Bush and his Democratic challenger John Kerry locked in a dead heat in Colorado.

The CNN/USA Today telephone poll surveyed 667 likely voters
between Sunday and Wednesday and has a margin of error of plus or
minus five percentage points.

The poll shows voters split 49 percent to 49 percent for Bush and Kerry. One percent favored Ralph Nader and the other one percent weren't sure.

Earlier polls have given mixed signals on the battle for Colorado's nine electoral votes.

Last month, a Pueblo Chieftain poll gave Bush a 12-point lead over Kerry.

A few days earlier, a survey of 500 registered voters for the Rocky Mountain News and Denver's KCNC-TV in Denver said Bush and Kerry were in a virtual tie.
