Kobe Bryant Prosecutor Opposes Request to Seal Documents

The prosecutor who charged Kobe Bryant with sexual assault is opposing the NBA star's bid to permanently seal evidence and court filings in the case.

Several news organizations filed requests to obtain the information after District Attorney Mark Hurlbert dropped the charge at the alleged victim's request this month.

Bryant's attorney asked a judge to keep the evidence private. In a court filing yesterday, Hurlbert contends public interest in the information outweighs Bryant's privacy interests for keeping it sealed.

Attorneys for the alleged victim agree but say records dealing with the woman's sexual activities and other information that was
ruled inadmissible in the criminal case should remain sealed.
