Flooding in Colorado

Interstate 25 through Denver is open again after a heavy rain caused street flooding and trapped several motorist in chest-high water.

Firefighters waded through coffee with cream colored waters to rescue motorists who had to climb to the roof of their cars. The water collected in an area known for its flooding that has been left more vulnerable because of the T-Rex construction project.

About a dozen vehicles -- some nearly submerged -- were trapped by the ponds that formed along the so-called Narrows Section of the highway near the Washington and Broadway street exits. Several of the cars were underneath the Logan Street bridge.

The highway was closed for more than three hours.
