State patrol is investigating a head-on crash that sent five people to the hospital including a one-year-old baby.

The crash happened just before 12:30 this afternoon in Peyton, on Jones Road near Log Road. That's just off Peyton Highway and Highway 94.

Several of people involved have serious injuries, but at this time investigators are not calling them life-threatening. The baby may have a broken arm.

According to Colorado State Patrol, a Volkswagen Jetta was going west on Jones Road when the driver, Sarah Larocca, 25, went into the opposite side of traffic, slamming into the Mazda head-on. Three people were in the silver car, including that one-year-old baby.

Troopers said the baby was in a car seat, but the two adults were not wearing their seatbelts. The two people in the Mazda were wearing their seatbelts, and have serious injuries. Both drivers had to be extricated from their cars.

CSP said excessive speed is considered a factor in the crash, but right now drugs and alcohol are not suspected. Charges against Larocca are pending.
