A teenager was wounded after being shot at a party in the Security-Widefield area.
The El Paso County Sheriff's Office responded around 1:30 a.m. Friday after receiving several calls about gunshots in the area of Woody Drive, which is near the junction of South Powers and Mesa Ridge Parkway.
The 16-year-old victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The victim's sister tells 11 News that a fight broke out at the party and her brother was trying to get away when he got caught in the crossfire. After she learned her brother was shot, she said she was terrified she lost him.
"It was the scariest thing I've ever been through," she said.
EPSO spokesman Lt. Jeff Kramer said deputies made several traffic stops in the area trying to determine if occupants were involved or were at the party. Sheriff's deputies have not made any arrests, but have detained some people for questioning.
