Alcohol and speeding were likely causes in a one-vehicle crash Sunday morning in eastern El Paso County, which landed the two occupants in the hospital.
The accident occurred on the 30000 block of Big Springs Road near Calhan just after 7 a.m. Sunday.
A spokesperson with the Colorado State Patrol tells 11 News that the driver, identified as 22-year-old Brian Munoz-Villar, lost control of his car after passing a vehicle. His car went off the left side of the road and rolled twice. Neither Munoz-Villar or passenger Luis Gill, 18, were wearing seat belts, and were both ejected.
Gill suffered serious injuries and was flown to Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs. Munoz-Villar's injuries were more moderate, and he was taken to Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs by ambulance.
Charges against Munoz-Villar are pending. Troopers believe he was drinking and driving.
