Comedian Stephen Colbert is expected to be back in the chair Monday to resume taping of his show.

Comedy Central abruptly halted production of "The Colbert Report" last Wednesday without an explanation, worrying its legion of fans.

Reports later emerged that Colbert had taken time off to be with his ailing 91-year-old mother.

Colbert tweeted a message to his fans Friday, saying: "My family and I would like to thank everyone who has offered their thoughts and prayers. We are grateful and touched by your concern."
