Eddie Ray Fisher, drummer for the Grammy-nominated pop band OneRepublic, was arrested early Tuesday morning in Denver.

After a domestic dispute, Fisher, 38, is charged with assault, disturbing the peace, and destruction of property.

OneRepublic is a Colorado band who was nominated for a Grammy in 2008 for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals.

According to police documents obtained by CBS4, officers rushed to Fisher’s girlfriend’s home on North Clermont Street after the woman asked her roommate to call police early Tuesday morning. Fisher was outside, bleeding from the forehead, when officers arrived.

He told the officers that his girlfriend, Lonnie Weygant, was acting hysterical and had trapped him in the bathroom and struck him several times on the forehead. Fisher said he was trying to drive away when his girlfriend took his dog and went back into the house.

Police say the fight began when the two were coming home from the bar and Fisher became upset because his girlfriend of two months received a text and he thought she was cheating on him. Weygant told officers that was when he threw her down. She got up, and took the dog inside to hide.

Inside, the documents say Fisher forced his way into the bathroom where Weygant had barricaded herself. That is when the roommate was asked to call police.

Because he was intoxicated and injured, Fisher was taken to Denver Health Medical Center. His girlfriend was also taken to that hospital for bruises and cuts.

Fisher pleaded not guilty and was allowed to go free on $550 bond.
