A fact many predators know--and sadly attempt to use to their advantage.
A 34-year-old Canadian man has just been arrested for impersonating the pop star online to lure young girls.
Prosecutors say Lee Moir told a 12-year-old girl in New Jersey that he would hurt her family if she didn't do sex acts in front of her web cam. After she complied, Moir allegedly threatened to post the sex acts to a porn site.
The victim had been exchanging e-mails with Moir, believing he was really was the singer.
During the video chat, the girl determined that she was talking to an imposter, and contacted authorities.
An undercover Canadian police officer, using information from the Essex County, New Jersey prosecutor's office, posed online as a 14-year-old girl and requested a meeting with Moir. Moir was then arrested.
Moir has been charged in Canada with luring, manufacturing child pornography and extortion. It's believed he has victims in as many as five countries.
