NEW YORK (AP) -- Bob Schieffer has always wanted CBS' "Face the Nation" to be an hour-long show, and this weekend he gets his wish -- and Joe Biden, too.
Schieffer traveled to Milwaukee on Thursday to interview the vice president for Sunday's show. Republican presidential candidates Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul are also scheduled guests.
Unlike its rivals "Meet the Press" and "This Week," the CBS public affairs show has been limited to a half hour. Schieffer has begged his bosses to expand almost since he started as host 20 years ago, and a few months ago they agreed. Schieffer said: "I almost fainted."
Schieffer says the additional time will give him greater flexibility to book additional guests or make changes to the lineup to accommodate breaking news.
