NEW YORK (AP) -- The space shuttle Enterprise, surrounded by a flotilla of boats, is making its way to its new Manhattan home.
The prototype space shuttle traveled up the Hudson River from Jersey City, N.J., on Wednesday. It passed the Statue of Liberty and the World Trade Center site. It will hoisted by crane onto the flight deck of the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.
Hundreds of spectators lined the waterfront.
Thomas Hoffler said he had never seen a space shuttle and he was "just spellbound."
The Enterprise's original move-in date was Tuesday. Organizers said Monday bad weather had delayed preparation work.
A spokeswoman for the Intrepid says the shuttle's wingtip sustained light cosmetic damage during the trip Sunday when a gust of wind caused it to graze a wood piling.
