There's some confusion on when Facebook's new "Timeline" takes effect for everyone.
March 30 is the deadline for businesses and fan pages--but not for individual profiles. Much of the confusion has been due to Facebook jargon; most people refer to their profiles as "pages," so when word got out that pages were being forced to switch by the 30th, many thought that meant their personal accounts. Facebook, however, refers to personal accounts as "profiles." In the Facebook world, pages are for businesses, organizations and brands; profiles represent individuals and must be held under an individual name.
Facebook has not announced when it will force all personal profiles to make the switch, though some users have complained that Facebook already converted their profiles for them, without their consent.
Businesses and other brand pages were notified in advance of the March 30 deadline to make the switch or have Facebook do it for them.
