A section of the Facebook wall captured by KKTV on the morning of Monday, Feb. 27. The page was later removed by Facebook.
A series of lewd Facebook pages have sparked outrage on the social network. The administrator snags otherwise innocent photos of children from other user’s walls and posts it with crude captions.
One instance on Monday was entitled “Chester Chester Child Muhlester,” and the wall was full of children’s photos.
Sometimes it’s a baby in the bathtub, or another child without much clothing. The images are innocent to friends, but not to Chester.
Elizabeth Murphy was shocked when she saw the page and was concerned other parents probably weren’t aware. "Who knows who he took those photos from and will they ever find out their children is a victim,” she said.
KKTV 11 News contacted Facebook about the page and received this response from the social network’s representatives: “This Page and the fake admin have been removed from Facebook, but we can’t comment further on this specific case.”
A local officer with the Crimes Against Children Unit says the page isn’t illegal and points out that any photo posted on the internet becomes public.
The best way to protect yourself, and your children, is to adjust your privacy settings or don’t post the photos at all.
