SAO PAULO (AP) -- Apple says it has launched its iTunes store in Brazil and 15 other Latin American countries.
Apple says in a statement posted Tuesday on its website that it launched a catalog of more than 20 million songs, most of which are priced at 99 cents. Most albums are priced at $9.99.
The statement says iTunes was also launched Tuesday in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela.
Calls to Apple for more details and to the Brazilian Union of Music Publishers for comment were not immediately returned. The Brazilian Association of Record Producers said it had no immediate comment.
