Holiday Blues: Places To Turn When You're Feeling Down Or Need Help

The holidays can make those feelings of loneliness, loss and depression more intense, but there are many places to turn in Southern Colorado for help, or just a listening ear.

Below, you can find a list of resources for a number of problems that any of us could face, along with warning signs of suicide and what you can do as a friend or family member to help prevent it:

Warning Signs of Suicide:
-Serious depression
-Loss of interest in favorite activities
-Feeling increasingly isolated
-Feelings of hopelessness
-Saying they want to die
-Giving away prized possessions
-Sudden drop in school or work performance

What you can do? ACT!

A - Acknowledge that you are seeing signs of suicide and that it is serious.

C - Care: Let that person know that you are there for them and that you are concerned that they need help that you cannot provide.

T - Tell a parent/professional, either with that person or on their behalf.
