Many of us use discounts from social media sites like Groupon and Living Social.
The discount are traditionally for stores and restaurants, but more and more health providers are beginning to put their services up on those sites.
"People are starting to do the comparison shopping in health care that we've all been doing a long time in consumer goods and other services," Susannah Fox with the Pew Internet and American Life Project said.
The discounts are for a variety of services like dental and eye exams--even Lasik surgery. They're being used by people who don't have insurance, are under-insured, or ones with insurance that just want to save money.
The owners of Groupon says that these kinds of deals are consumer driven, so deals on more complicated procedures may be in the near future.
