New medical programs at Fort Carson are designed to help soldiers and their families deal with the issues surrounding deployment.
The outreach program currently works with hundreds of families, and that number is growing.
The program includes behavioral health counseling and physical screenings focused on traumatic brain injuries. Both services are designed to make life easier for recently returned soldiers and their families.
Ken Delano, of the Child and Family Assistance Center, says word of the program is spreading quickly. Families are referring families,” he says. “We are getting a lot of those word of mouth referrals."
"They insure that our needs personally are being taken care of, to maintain our responsibility for our communities and our service," said Brent Williams, who has been deployed five times.
Fort Carson says future plans for the program includes an expansion and upgrade of the medical facilities. That will include a brand new, 153,000 square foot Soldier and Family Care Center.
