The FDA is warning parents to look at the labels carefully when buying liquid acetaminophen for infants. There's a new, more diluted version of the medicine now available for infants.
The new formula is 160 mg/ml compared to the older, higher concentrated version of 80 mg/ .8ml.
A pharmacist tells 11 News the change is a good thing and will hopefully result in fewer overdoses.
One mom tells 11 News it's frightening that she didn't know about the change sooner.
"I'd like to think that I read the labels every time, but that's not always true," said Rachel Wilson.
The higher concentration is still available in some stores. The FDA warns that buyers need to read the label carefully to know which formula they are buying so they administer the right dose to their children.
