BOULDER, Colo. (AP) -- Working out could pay off in more ways than one for University of Colorado employees, as school officials explore a new wellness program.

The Daily Camera reports school officials are considering offering discounted health insurance premiums to employees who work out. They also are exploring partnering with a gym franchise to offer discounted rates to employees.

Supporters say encouraging healthy lifestyles will result in fewer health problems for employees.

Last year the University of Colorado Hospital offered $120 to employees who participated in a health assessment and biometric screening. This fall, CU launched a wellness program known as "Be Colorado," which offered free online health assessments.

The university is also planning to start a new weight-loss program on the Boulder campus.
