RSV is the big ailment we’re hearing about from local doctors right now. We last reported this two weeks ago.

Dr. Michael Halenkamp is with Colorado Springs Health Partners in the Briargate area. He says RSV is causing lots of kids to end up in the hospital.

As we've reported, the symptoms of rRSV are similar to a bad cold. You'll notice a fever, coughing, a runny nose, a sore throat and an earache in your child. But if your child has trouble breathing or the other symptoms get worse, talk to your doctor.

Again, Dr. Halenkamp is seeing a lot of kids end up in the hospital over this, so keep in close contact with your physician for the right course of action.

Also going around this week, another common ailment in kids… pink eye. That's according to Dr. Steven Reich with Colorado Springs Health Partners in the southwest part of town.

Here's what to look for in your child with pink eye, also called conjunctivitis: itchy, scratchy eyes, redness, swelling of the eye lids, watery discharge and sensitivity to light.

Here's what to do about it. In bacterial conjunctivitis, you may need antibiotics to help get rid of the infection. You can also wash the eyes gently with a clean towel. Make sure you don't share any towels, washcloths or pillows with anyone, because pink eye spreads easily.

Also, as always, wash your hands often.
