Tis the season for coughs and flu-like symptoms. But it's not the flu. It's an upper respiratory infection, or URI

That's according to Dr. Tom Bartlett with Mountain View Medical Group. Here's what he's seeing with these URIs in the central part of the Springs: a cough, low-grade fever, chills and nasal congestion. Dr. Bartlett says it lasts about a week.

You can take over-the-counter meds to reduce your fever. And cough drops or syrup can help your cough. Make sure, when you do cough, to do so into your sleeve to keep from spreading the illness.

Also, the doctors we talk with say - they're seeing a decline in H1N1 cases. But Dr. Joyce Michael with Mountain View Medical Group reminds all of us to get our H1N1 vaccine. She says even though cases of the virus have slowed, it could return again this flu season. Check with your health care provider or pharmacy for vaccine availability.
