It’s flu, flu and more flu. That’s what’s going around all of Southern Colorado again this week… in folks of all ages.
Here are the symptoms being seen in kids:
Dr. Steven Reich works in the Southwest part of town with Colorado Springs Health Partners. He says that’s what he’s seeing in the kids in his office.
He says the symptoms he’s seeing are pretty typical: fever, cough, aches. He also adds that most of his patients have had a fever for 2-4 days.
Moving on to symptoms seen in adults:
Dr. Thomas Bartlett is with Mountain View Medical Center in the central part of the Springs. He says the adults in his office are presenting with a mild fever of about 101.5, weakness, cough and headache with sinus pressure.
So what do these doctors recommending for treatment?
Here’s what Dr. Carol Venable with Acute Medical Specialists in Pueblo recommends: she tells us their focus with flu patients has been on staying well hydrated and staying at home. She says patients can treat the fever with pain relievers. And she reminds everyone to stay away from school or work until 24 hours after the fever goes away.
But if a patient is short of breath, having uncontrollable vomiting or is becoming confused – they need to be seen by a physician immediately.
