Doctors of four kids in El Paso County believe they have the H1N1 virus, putting parents and school administrators on alert.
Two cases have popped up in District 11. The other two are in the Widefield School District.
11 News spoke with a mother of a sick D-11 student, who was tested last week, and got those results Monday.
"He is confirmed H1N1," says the mother who wants to remain anonymous.
"I've been making calls like crazy, just trying to find out what to do next," the mother says.
Her son attends North Junior High School in Colorado Springs, and is one of two self reported cases of H1N1 there. That means until the school district receives confirmation from the health department, the students are being asked to stay home.
"The doctor notifies the health department, and the health department would notify us, but have had nothing from the health department," says Elaine Naleski, the Director of Communications for Colorado Springs School District 11.
In the meantime, District 11 is taking extra precautions.
"We make sure that the school is cleaned, and we have sent over extra supplies," says .
Farther south, teachers at Sunrise Elementary School in the Widefield School District are sending letters home with students to warn parents of two reported cases of swine flu at their school.
But not all parents are concerned.
"It's not like a huge scare, where we're all hiding in the house and staying indoors," says mother of four Marlys Baker.
Others are worried, and doing everything they can to keep their family healthy.
"We're very careful about handwashing, and I have the hand sanitizer in the car," says concerned mother Mary Cuccaro.
Both school districts are urging parents to keep sick children at home.
