Your throat is hoarse, scratchy or maybe you've lost your voice completely. Sound familiar? You may have viral laryngitis.

That's what Dr. Tom Bartlett with Mountain View Medical Group is seeing a lot of lately. He says it starts with cold symptoms. You'll notice a fever, cough, nasal and chest congestion and then laryngitis.

Since this is a virus, anti-biotics won't work. But there are some ways to feel better. Dr. Bartlett recommends gargling with salt water and an over-the-counter pain reliever. He says the virus should clear up in 5-7 days.
