You’re supposed to work up a sweat at the gym.
But leaving it behind is a no-no.
“It’s gross,” said Kristen McEwen. She’s a YMCA Group Vice-President.
She sees all kinds of gym etiquette violations. The worst offense?
“We’ll have people who come in and they will sweat profusely and they will leave puddles around the equipment,” said McEwen.
She tells gym-goers to wipe down the equipment after using it.
Another gym “don’t”…involves noise.
Gyms can be loud enough without people blaring their mp3 players and talking on their cell phones.
“People don’t realize a lot of times when they’re on their cell phones how loud it is,” said McEwen. “And it distracts you from what you’re doing.”
McEwen suggests stashing your phone in a locker or the car.
And don’t forget to cover up. You may be proud of your belly button, but others may not be as interested.
Finally, don’t forget to wash your gym clothes after each workout.
“That person next to you, he doesn’t want to smell the second workout on those gym clothes,” said McEwen.
Good advice that might make exercising that much easier for all of us.
